What you need to know
First grader by day; superhero by night. An imaginary friend named Wormy (who’s actually a scrap piece of yarn). Kids play pretend all the time, and it’s great for their development. Money is a different story. Once your little ones are ready to go from Monopoly money to real money, teaching them basic financial skills—stuff that’s not pretend—is a must. That’s what Greenlight is for.
Don’t spend it all on 6 candy bars
To kids, it sounds like a great idea at the time. You know better. And you need them to learn better.
Greenlight is a digital financial app built to teach kids and teens how to handle money responsibly. It gives them the autonomy to spend and save money. Meanwhile, you get peace of mind as a parent with notifications from Greenlight every time your kids make a transaction.
Here’s how it works:
- Add up to two parents and up to five kids.
- The kids you enroll will each receive a Greenlight debit card of their own.
- Send allowances directly to your kids or send money instantly to your kids’ Greenlight cards. You can even manage their household chores on the app.
- Set spending limits, and get a notification whenever your kids spend money.
Workday offers a Greenlight Core membership at no cost or $4.99 off any higher-tier plans. The higher-tier plans include additional features, like an investing platform for families, more cash back on savings, up to 1% cash back on purchases*, location sharing, and more.
Once you're signed up, you can manage your account through the app. Download the app on the mobile apps page.
* Greenlight Core and Greenlight + Invest families can earn monthly rewards of 1% per annum; Greenlight Max families can earn 2% per annum; and Greenlight Infinity families can earn 5% per annum on an average daily savings balance of up to $5,000 per family. Only Greenlight Max and Infinity families can earn 1% cash back on spending monthly. To qualify, the Primary Account must be in Good Standing and have a verified ACH funding account.
