What You Need to Know
You just had a baby. Your mum is sick and needs a carer. You have a serious illness. There are plenty of reasons you may need to be away from work for more than a few days. That’s where a leave of absence comes in.
Types of leave
Congratulations on growing your family! You should get to know each other better. We offer paid leave so you can have family time when it matters the most.
|Maternity leave||Statutory Maternity Pay (SMP) top-up to 100% of basic pay during the first 26 weeks, then SMP for 13 weeks, and unpaid leave for 13 weeks|
|Paternity leave||Statutory Paternity Pay (SPP) top-up to 100% of basic pay for 12 weeks|
|Shared parental leave||Statutory Shared Parental Pay (SSPP) top-up to 100% of basic pay during the first 26 weeks|
|Adoption leave||Statutory Adoption Pay (SAP) top-up to 100% of basic pay during the first 26 weeks, then SAP for 13 weeks, and unpaid leave for 13 weeks|
In addition to giving you time to bond with your new family member, Workday will pitch in up to US$5,000 to help with the adoption expenses.
Sickness absence leave
In a rolling 52-week period, you may receive 13 weeks of paid sick leave at 100% of your basic salary, followed by 13 weeks of paid sick leave at 75% of your basic salary. If you are absent from work continuously for 26 weeks due to illness, you may be entitled to receive further payment under our group income protection scheme.
You may take up to 18 weeks of unpaid leave for each child after one year of service. A maximum of four weeks may be used each year.
You can take paid compassionate leave for up to 10 days to help for a range of life events, including the death of a loved one, family member, or pet; a miscarriage; domestic abuse; a home emergency (burglary, fire, flood, etc.); menopause; and more
For details about this leave, refer to the policy.
You and your family also have access to professional counselling services through MyLifeCoach.
Have you always wanted to explore Mayan ruins? Finish (or start) writing your first novel? Whatever your passion project is, go live it! After five years of service, you can take up to one year of unpaid personal leave whilst keeping your essential employee benefits (medical, dental, life, and income protection cover).
Workday will provide an additional 10 days of paid time off (PTO) if either you or an immediate family member is diagnosed with COVID-19.
Initiating a leave of absence
All leave requests must be submitted via Workday.
How to request time away
- Log in to Workday, select the Time Off icon, or go to Actions in your profile, and find Time and Leave.
- Select Request Time off, select the Type you need from the list, and fill in the details.
- Click Submit, and a Workday notification will be sent to your manager for approval.
Some types of leave need to be initiated in Workday by your manager or People & Purpose, and you will not be able to find them on your list of leave options. In these cases, contact your manager with your request, or submit a People Guide Request.
